Holodeck Art

Mission: Shakedown
Location: Armadeggon, Personal Quarters

The room was now as near to homely as it was every likely to be, her father’s painting saw to that. Kollin closed the door to her quarters, she was relieved it afforded her time alone, although it did mean she would have to make more of an effort in the social areas to mingle. She felt restless and then remembered that these Normandy class cruisers were equipped with many Holodeck simulations. She passed no one as she made her way along the corridor and at the first PADD control panel she requested directions to the nearest Holodeck.

She keyed into the exterior control panel “iart Museum on Ligobis X” … her sanctuary and inspiration, a place where she felt close to her father; Captain Frank Schmidt. One day, she whispered to herself, one day … a painting of mine will hang here. On entering the simulation she wondered around the familiar paintings and sculptures. At the farthest end of the room she found the interior arch control PADD, Kollin flicked through the options programme, momentarily distracted by the detailed map of the workings of the gallery; the last programme caught her eye. “Fraud investigators storm iart Museum”. On entering this new simulation Kollin did not immediately recognise the gallery; it appeared to be under siege. Paintings were being taken off the walls; the frames removed and in some cases the canvases were simply being slashed with knives. Kollin was not often lost for words. She walked purposefully towards a section of the gallery she knew well frantically scanning each destroyed painting as she strode, then she saw it, what a relief, the painting of the Klingon Bird of Prey it’s metallic grey in sharp contrast with Kronus in flaming red, hanging intact.
