Personal History Charlotte Matheson was born in Madison, Wisconson in 2366. Her mother, Alexandra, was a holo-novel author and her father, Jonathan, was a Starfleet Captain on Deep Space assignment. Though they chose to live apart, Alexandra, coming from a Starfleet family, was very supportive of Jonathan's position and mission. They had agreed that Charlie was to be raised on Earth. Charlie was the youngest of four children, being separated from the next oldest child by twelve years. She was also the only girl. She spent much of her childhood without much interaction with her siblings, being so much younger. By the time she was old enough to really understand her surroundings, they were all of age and in Starfleet. With that said, that did not mean they didn't have an impact on her life. Ever since she was young, she wanted to follow in her family's footsteps and join Starfleet. Her will and willingness to pursue a truly lifelong exploratory mission fueled her desire to maintain high academic standards so she could enroll in Starfleet academy. She was among the qualified candidates in 2382 and enrolled.

In her first year at the academy, Charlie spent a lot of time studying. Living in such a competitive environment now, she wanted to make sure that she stayed on top of things and made proper marks. This led to her being near the top of her class academically. As with most cadets, she took Federation History her first year. Though it wasn't something that called out to her, she knew that she'd have a lifelong fascination with history. Along with history, she took the foundation coursework for all security and tactical cadets, and also began coursework for her cross-discipline minor, engineering. The engineering work didn't come easy to her, but in her mind, that was the point. Becoming an officer meant she'd need a certain level of competance across all positions and departments. Engineering was the basis for starship maintentance, so it was the logical choice. When it came time for summer break, Charlie enrolled in the term for extra training. Though not the most intuitive, this would lead to her becoming a capable backup engineer.

Charlie's second year at the academy brough a lot of new experiences. While keeping up with her studies, she participated in a variety of extracurricular activites. In one such activity, hoverball, she became quite adept and participated in several competitions. Over the year, she and her team entered seven such tournaments, winning two and placing in the top five in another three. Being one of eleven teams representing Starfleet Academy, it was quite prestigious. Another team-building activity was Bridge Squad, as it was commonly referred to by the students. During these activities, cadets, under the guidance of the instructors, received hands-on bridge training using larger shuttlecraft, like the Delta Flyer model and others. Charlie was grateful to have been acceted into this program and it cemented her decision to want to become a bridge officer. As she became more adept, Charlie found that she was cool under pressure and had the ability to make the quick decisions needed when being on the bridge.

Charlie's final years at the academy were very informative, both to her and her instructors. She showed a lot of promise in her chosen field and also showed an aptitude for command. In the summer before her final year at the academy, Charlie was selected againfor extra hands-on training. The first month that she participated aboard a Wallace class escort ship. Over the four week mission, she, as the tactical officer, participated in two week-long escort missions and two survey missions. During the escort missions, their convoy came under attack. The convoy escorts, all staffed by cadets, engaged the hostile vessels and turned them back. Of course, Starfleet did not put the cadets in harm's way as the "hostile" vessels were manned by skeleton crews of instructors. As Charlie's academy career came to a close, she found herself near the top of her class. She worked hard to get that spot and had the grades and extracurriculars to prove it. At her graduation, she accepted her commission and was assigned to the USS Vanguard as a junior tactical and security officer.

In the first years of her Starfleet career, Charlie demonstrated the ability to perform most functions within the tactical and security departments. Initially, she was assigned as a maintenance officer in the tactical department. Given her background in engineering, she was a logical choice for the position. She performed her duties well, as was expected, and eventually got the occasional opportunity to serve as a relief bridge officer. It was typically only one or two shifts a month, but eventually in 2388, she became a permanent relief tactical officer. That experience lasted approximately eighteen months before she was reassigned to the USS Brooklyn to serve as the assistant Tactical/Security Chief. Being a smaller ship, there were only so many command positions available and with that only so many senior level officers. Having the necessary skills and qualifications made Charlie an idea candidate for the position, which she served in for nearly three years, learning as much as she could to become the Chief of her own department someday. In 2393, that day came. Charlie was officially assigned to the USS Armageddon as its new Chief Tactical Officer.
